Petite Fingerless Gloves w/ pattern

So, I’m being ambitious and am combining two patterns I have and then just using my own mind to make up the pattern for these pleased to fit fingerless gloves. They fit “like a glove”! They are perfect for me, and had I not made up my own pattern, I probably woulda never found a pattern right for me.

So I only have one worked on so far, but once I’m done with it, I’ll start the next.

I’ll write out the pattern for anyone that wants it, but it’ll only be in one small size. I’d say about young teen to small adult hands. I have a very petite bone structure, but I’m not a dwarf. The only hands smaller than mine were from a girl who was 4’9", her fingers were chubbier though.

Your hands sound about the size of my 21yo very petite daughter. I’d love the pattern when you finish!

Here, I’ll type it now  I planned on doing it anyway to make the second glove go faster.

Hand measurements :

circumference of hand excluding thumb: 6.5"
circumference of thumb: 2"
base of thumb to index finger: 1.5"

Gauge:

6 rows x 4.5 sts = 1 inch. adjust needles for guage.

Materials:

Bernat Denimstyle Yarn, US # 3 DPN (set of 4), stitch holder/scrap yarn, tapestry needle

Cast on 30 sts and join.

Work 3.5 inches in k2,p2 ribbing (the round will end with k2, so there will be 4 knit sts in a row)

Knit one round.

Thumb Gusset
( this will end up looking like it extended from the 4 k sts found in the k2,p2 ribbing):

p1, m1, k1, m1, p1, k to end of round

Knit one round

p1, inc, k1, inc, p1, k to end of round.

Knit one round.

p1, inc, k3, inc, p1, k to end of round.

Knit one round.

Continue increasing in this manner (working 2 sts betweem the increases on every 2nd round) until there are 9 sts between the purl sts.

Knit all knit sts and purl all purl sts as they appear for 5 rows.

Next Round: K to the first P st and purl the next stitch. Put the next 9 sts (the sts between the purl sts), onto a holder/scrap yarn, cast on one stitch, k to end of round.

Continue working rounds in stockinette st for 1.5 inches.

Fingers: Tip sometimes when picking up a stitch at the base of a previous finger, there are one or two holes on either side of the stitch. In this pattern it will probably be fine if you pick up two or 3 sts at the base. My fingers are pretty darn skinny, so one worked fine. Otherwise, you can take the tail left after adding in the new yarn for each finger, and weave it through the holes. That’s what I did and it looks great.

First Finger:

Knit the first 4 sts. Slip all but the last 4 sts onto stitch holder. Cast on one st, knit last four sts. Divide these 9 sts onto 3 needles, or 2 if you prefer. Join and knit to end of round. Work 8 rounds in k1, p1 ribbing ending in k1 ( the first and last sts will be knit sts). Bind off in ribbing.

Second Finger:
Knit first 4 sts. Slip all but the last 4 sts onto stitch holder. Cast on one st, knit last four sts. Pick up one stitch at base of previous finger. Divide these 10 sts onto 3 needles, or 2 if you prefer. Complete as for first finger.

Third Finger:

Knit first 4 sts. Slip all but the last 3 sts onto stitch holder. Cast on one st, knit last four sts. Pick up one stitch at base of previous finger. Divide these 9 sts onto 3 needles, or 2 if you prefer. Complete as for first finger.

Pinky finger:
Slip last 7 sts from holder. pick up and knit 1 st at base of 3rd finger. Divide these 8 sts onto 3 needles, or 2 if you prefer. Complete as for first finger.

Fixes:

Thumb isn’t listed, slip all stitches onto needles, divide as necessary, and pickup two stitches at the base of 1st finger.

If you find any more problems with this pattern, please let me know  It’s kinda still in beta testing.

:cheering: Hope it fits! Mine fits me great so far![/i][/u]

Thanks so much, Angela!

I won’t be attempting it until after Christmas. I have too many projects to finish for gifties, and it’s too late to send anything more to my dd in Germany, and have it arrive to her by Christmas. I’m looking forward to trying this once the holiday hooplah is behind me, though.

you’re welcome. I have a ton of gifts to finish too! Glad I finally typed the pattern tho. I am starting on the other glove very soon  :happydance:

:happydance: very cute I have small hands too my dh holds his hand up I place my hand on his and they look a childs in his… for some reason after 10yrs of dating and marriage this still amazes my dh and while we sit and watch a movie he will do this over and over and over :rofling:

the same thing happens here  My boyfriend’s hands are HUMONGOUS! lol. The gloves I made him were actually slightly bigger than his hands, and that amazed me. We can’t really interlock fingers because my fingers can’t spread far enough apart for his fingers to fit comfortably. His hands are probably 3 times bigger than mine

I finished them finally! And just my luck…we had a coldfront for two days and the day I finished them, its hot again.

Those are awesome!!

I love them! The color is just… :inlove:
