Perfect gift for little girls

I found a version of this pattern in a library book and thought it would be a great way to learn to knit with beads. In the original pattern one was supposed to use much finer yarn and small beads. However, since I’m making these for my 1 1/2 year old, a 2 1/2 year old, a 5 year old, and an 8 year old cousins for Christmas, I thought sturdier yarn and beads would to better. I plan on making a more delicate and intricate version for myself. I plan on designing a bracelet to match, I even thought about a crown, and ring. But I don’t know if I could get all that done in four sets by Christmas. :knitting: Cyndel’06

How fun! I have 2 little neighbor girls --7 & 8 – who would love those.:cheering:

Aww, that’s really cute. Not sure I’d do that for the youngest though. That age tends to still chew on things sometimes and I worry about the beads.

Very nice! Perfect gift, I agree!

Is the entire necklace knitted. I have not used beads yet. Did you string them on first? Is there a site with these jewels to knit?

Very cool!!! Happy knitting!!:woohoo: :knitting:

Beautiful!! What book did you get the pattern from?

Yes the entire necklace was knitted, I strung the beads on first, wasn’t nearly as difficult as I thought. Though I found an even easier way since.
Simply find a crochet needle that will fit inside your bead easily when you reach the stitch you need to add a bead to slip the bead onto the crochet needle hook the loop on the end of your knitting needle, slip it off the needle push the bead off the crochet needle onto the loop of yarn and slip the loop back onto the needle and continue knitting. Some beads are simply to small to do this with but one of the three smallest crochet needles ment for making lace does well. I think they are sizes 11, 12, & 13.
As for sights to help and instruct I didn’t find any in particular, a lot of knitting sites have a small section for beads and one simply must compile information from the bits and pieces one can find. Hope this helps.
I got the pattern from 101 Designer One-Skein Wonders.

Very pretty! You’re right, girls will love it.
