Hi, I’ve now got a total of 12 skeins of the recycled sari silk, and I’m trying to decide what to knit.
I’ve looked at quite a few patterns, some for sale at Yarnmarket.com, and of course the Unbiased bag from Knitty, and the book cover.
I was wondering if anyone else has run across any new and inspiring patterns – for maybe a light top or a bag, a shawl, or maybe even a throw. I’m keeping an open mind at this point!
I made the triangular purse here, but wish I’d made the unbiased purse. I don’t care for the one I made but haven’t decided what to do yet - take it apart or leave it.
I only had 3 skeins (each one slightly different texture) of the yarn and used every bit. I’d have liked to have made a shawl, but the yarns I had were way too bulky for that.
I have to say this: I thought the yarn was so pertty, I love the colors - but I hated knitting with it. It felt horrid in my hands, so I’m not sure I’d really have liked a shawl or shrug or other clothing.
I understand what you mean about the texture. I haven’t tried working with it too much yet. I’ve also read in various places that people who made vests out of it found the end product was quite heavy and not that comfortable to wear.
The colors are beautiful though! Thanks for the link; I’ll check it out.
ETA: I like the Sunburst Sling bags and the Charusheela! Thanks!
