Pattern Wording Question

Hello! I’m new to knitting and I’m making a hat in a beginning pattern book I bought. The end directions are as follows: "9th row: (K2tog) 10 times. 10 stitches. Break yarn leaving a long end. Draw end through remaining stitches and fasten securely."
Does this mean I don’t actually bind off or does that go without saying? As a note, all of the other patterns in the book say to cast off at the end of those projects

Is casting off the same as binding off?

Thanks in advance for the help. I’m not actually ready to finish it yet, but I want to be prepared when the time comes.

I reread you post. On a hat, you are gather these remaining stitches together to close the top. Duh, missed that the first time around.

Yes. They are interchangeable terms.

Thread the tail through a darning or tapestry needle and run it thought the 10 live stitches and pull on the tail to close the top. Run it to the inside and work in the tail securely.
