Pattern with bind offs

I am knitting a pattern that uses 4 different rows to make a chevron stitch. I am at the collar, where I have to bind off 18 stitches of the right front of the sweater. How do I keep the pattern when the number of stitches has changed?

Omit those sts from the pattern.

Exs.

  1. Pattern is 60sts. You BO off the 1st 20 sts. You will now work the remaining 40 sts, which are sts 21-60 of the pattern.
  2. Pattern is 60sts. You BO the middle 20sts. You will now work the remaining 40sts in two sets: sts 1-20 and sts 41-60.
  3. Pattern is 60sts. You BO the last 20 sts. You will now work the remaining 40 sts, which are sts 1-40 of the pattern.
