Pattern terms

I’d be grateful for help with the meaning of two terms:

Cont even - I know that “cont” means “continue,” but “even” is throwing me off.

Mark - does this mean place a stitch marker on the completed stitch to indicate the beginning of a section (for later reference)?

Here’s an example that incorporates both terms:

“Mark each edge of the last row for base of armhole. Cont even until armholes measure . . .”

Cont even means to keep knitting like you were but don’t increase or decrease anymore.

Mark - does this mean place a stitch marker on the completed stitch to indicate the beginning of a section (for later reference)?
Yes, if you have some sort of stitch marker that can be placed at the point indicated that is a good idea. I don’t have stitch markers of this kind so I just use a tapestry needle and sew a piece of yarn there to mark it.

Thanks for your help!
