Pattern Stitch Opinion

I would like to use “Sugar Cubes” as a stitch pattern for a baby blanket. http://cache.lionbrand.com/cgi-bin/faq-search.cgi?store=/stores/eyarn&faqKey=272

My question is - Since it looks from the pattern that the edges are likely to curl, am I able to add a border to this pattern to keep it from doing so and do you have a border recommendation outside the traditional garter?

Thanks in advance
Oh- While I have you on the line - can someone tell me how to re-name my links so they aren’t so long?

I think moss/seed stitch would look great with the “sugar” cubes pattern. I think Version 1 on this pagewould look nice.

To get links shorter you can use the [ url = http://websiteaddresshere.com ] text [ /url ] (without the spaces)

and it will appear with text as the link.

I hope this helps!

If you don’t want garter stitch, then I’d go with the seed stitch idea, or a double seed/moss stitch. That would fit with the pattern pretty well too.

Thanks for the information

I think I know the answer to this question but I’m questioning myself so I better ask it…The pattern calls for a multiple of 8+1. Does that mean for every eight stitches I cast on an extra 1 or do I cast on the number of multiples I need e.g 24 then 1 for a total of 25?

I always question myself, even when it seems simple!

You are correct - it is a (any multiple of 8 ) + 1, so your example of correct - 3 multiples of 8 plus one stitch for a total of 25 stitches.

I almost used that pattern myself for a baby blanket!
I am currently knitting a blanket with a moss/seed stitch border. I like it better than the traditional garter.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I really appreciate it:hug:
