Pattern says 16" circular, can I use 17" circular?

got this hat pattern that says using a 16" circular size 8 needle, but I don’t have any 16", and I just got my lovely Denise Interchagable from kemp’s shop. Can I use the 17" Denise instead? I just got it off the instruction that the shortest circular I can make is 17".

Any ideas? :??

You can probably get a way with it. Cast on the stitches, and if you can join them easily, you’ll be fine.

I agree with Ingrid, you can probably get away with a 1" difference. But it seems to me that you can make a shorter needle with the Denise’s… I seem to recall using the second shortest cord as a circ for something. It wasn’t the easiest, but workable, about 14" or so with tips included. I’m glad that the cords do get even more flexible as I’ve worked with them though.

I’m a little frustrated with that 17in in my Denises. It CAN work as long as you have quite a few stitches… adult hat works best. I found that with kid hats and smaller adult ones the stitches just pull to much for my liking. Do try though!
