Pattern question

I’m knitting yet another beanie and the next line on the pattern reads:

Next round (knit onto DPNs - 3 pattern repeats on 1st needle, 4 on 2nd, 3 on 3rd) - (K2tog, K2, P2, K2, P2) around.

Can someone please clarify this for me? It’s not getting through. :??

They’re just telling you how to divide the stitches up. There must be a certain number of stitches in each pattern repeat, that’s how many stitches they want you to place on each dpn.

Then you’re to the decrease stitches in the parentheses over and over around the next round.

Oh I see. Okay, thanks very much!
