Pattern Question

My pattern says to join the yarn and then pick up stitches. The neckline of this sweater had a section that I added to create a placket so the point that was the beginning of the sweater is closer to the shoulder. That is where I would think I would ‘join’ the yarn and pick up stitches, however the pattern says to pick up stitches across the front, along the shoulder, and then along the back. Any ideas where I am supposed to ‘join’ the yarn to the sweater to add the hood?

TIA,

Jenny

You mean the sweater is split in the front? Just join the yarn at the right neck edge and start picking up from there, I imagine.

Yes it does have a split in the front. However the ‘tail’ from where the sweater began is near the shoulder. So how do I join at the front where the split is if there is no ‘tail’ yarn piece?

TIA,
Jenny

Cut the tail at the shoulder and restart the yarn at the edge. Just start picking up with the new strand and weave in the end later.
