I am knitting a jacket and the pattern calls for a pair of needles and a circular needle. Can I use just the circular needle. I do not like to knit on straight needles. Thanks
Sure, use the circs on the whole thing, you can knit flat with them.

Just work your piece back and forth on them and do not connect in the round. Then circs are just needles.
I only work with circs (if I do not work with dpn for smaller diameter in the round) for all knitting.
