Pattern issue, what does it mean?

I hope you can help me.
I want to knit a sleeveless Gilet.
The pattern I have reads like this:
Cast on 45 stitches.

Work 6 rows in st st.

Back: Work Shaping:

K4, K.2tog. t.b.l., K. to last 6 stitches., K2tog., K4

Work 5 Rows straight.

Next row: K4, K2tog. t.b.l., K. To last 6 stitches., K.2tog., K4.

My question is this:

Is it the K.2tog. that should be t.b.l. or is it the k. to last 6 stitches that should be t.b.l ?
The commas and full steps are confusing and Im not sure if the Gilet is to have a bit of structural shaping from the, t.b.l. There is not picture of the back so Im confused. Xxx. I’m new. I am having trouble with a pattern. Can Anyone help. I’ve copied the pattern here so you can read it and tell me what it looks lokje to you.
Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum!
K2tog tbl is a left leaning decrease. It mirrors the k2tog which leans right.

So K4, work the next 2sts together through the back loop, knit across the row to the last 6sts, k2tog, k4. The only sts worked tbl are the initial sts 5 and 6.

Thanks so much. I was confused with the commas and full stops plus lack of experience.
Thats really helpfull.

I can see where it would be confusing. There’s an overabundance of punctuation in this one. Have fun with your knitting!

Yes, there seem to be a lot of unnecessary full stops. It would more normally be written like this:
K4, K2tog tbl, K to last 6 stitches, K2tog, K4

Work 5 Rows straight.

Next row: K4, K2tog tbl, K to last 6 stitches, K2tog, K4

Might be worth retyping the whole thing, so it’s easier to read? I think you could safely remove ALL full stops, but leave the commas as they actually separate steps.

Thanks. Good idea

I would say the K2tog is through the back loop:-)
