I’m working on a sock pattern and I just finished the heel flap and I’m about to turn the heel.
The instructions for the heel flap:
Directions for heel flap, heel turn and gusset are given in the following format 23 [25, 27, 29, 31, 33, 35, 37, 39, 41, 43, 45, [B]47[/B], 49, 51, 53] (These are for the different sizes. There are 15 numbers. Mine is in bold.)
Set up: Work 11 [12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, [B]23[/B], 24, 25, 26] stitches in pattern as set, turn.
Row 1 (WS): Slip 1, work 22, 24, 26, 28, 30, 32, 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44, [B]46[/B], 48, 50, 52] stitches in pattern, turn.
Row 2 (RS): Slip 1, work 22, 24, 26, 28, 30, 32, 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44, [B]46[/B], 48, 50, 52] stitches in pattern, turn.
Repeat rows 1 and 2 until heel flap measures 2.5 inches, ending on a non-cabling RS row. (I’ve worked up to this point.)
The instructions for the heel turn:
Row 1 (RS): Slip 1, k13 [13, 15, 15, 17, 17, 19, 19, 21, 21, 23, 23, 25, 25, 27, 27, 29, 29], ssk, k1, turn. (What the [I]hell[/I]. Why are there 17 numbers?! Which one am I supposed to use? 25 or 27?)
Row 2 (WS): Slip 1, p6 [4, 6, 4, 6, 4, 6, 4, 6, 4, 6, 4, [B]6[/B], 4, 6, 4], p2tog, p1, turn. (And we’re back to 15.)
Row 3 (RS): Slip 1, k to one stitch before gap created by turn on previous row, ssk to close gap, k1, turn.
Row 4 (WS): Slip 1, p to one stitch before gap created by turn on previous row, p2tog to close gap, p1, turn.
Repeat rows 3 and 4 until all stitches have been worked. 15 [15, 17, 17, 19, 19, 21, 21, 23, 23, 25, 25, [B]27[/B], 27, 29, 29] stitches. (I assume the number for row 1 should be 27 since it’s 27 here, but knitting has turned my brain into mush and I’m beyond being able to use math or logic.)
