Pattern including yfwd confusion

Hey Guys,

I am so confused and I’m hoping someone has the answers – I’m relatively new to knitting and after working out what a ‘yfwd’ is the pattern itself has left me confused…

The section I am trying to work out states *(K1, yfwd, K2, Sl 1, K2tog, psso, K2, yfwd) repeat from * until last 8 stitches.

My question is why is there a yfwd at the end if I go back to the *K1 beginning … do I move the yarn to the front and then start with the yarn at the front for the first stitch? That seems silly to me?

Thanks in advance for your help and I hope I’m not being a giant idiot!!

Kirsty xx

Welcome to KH!
The second yfwd or yarn over keeps the stitch count the same and is part of the lace pattern. There are 2 inc in the repeat and a double dec.
When you get to the second yfwd, bring the yarn to the front between the needles and then over the right needle to the back to work the k1 at the beginning of the repeat. It’ll be similar to the yfwd, k2 that comes next in the repeat.

Thank you so much! I’ll give that a go.
