Hey y’all - I am currently working on Haley Mathiot’s “Slightly Biased” shawl and am confused about the shaping. The finished object images show a triangular shape resulting from some sort of decreasing, but the written pattern has zero mention of it. I left a comment on the pattern page, and it doesn’t look like anyone else has run into this. Anyone know how I can get the shaping right? Maybe replacing some of the kfb with k2tog? Thanks!
Pattern image shows nonexistent decreases
Hi Sterni_knits welcome to the forum
Written patern looks ok to me. You just have to follow it as is written by designer.
Maybe reading whole pattern before starting can help you.
First knit set up rows
continue by doing garter section than latice section following instructions for each.
Repeat the garter and lattice section, making sure to begin row 1 of lattice with an even number of stitches.
If you will have more questions feel free to ask agan. Someone will answer
Hello
This shawl begins at a point, with 1 stitch, then works with increases, rather than decreases, to produce the shape.
Row 1 kfb
Row 2 kfb, k1
Row 3 k to last stitch, kfb
Row 4 kfb, k to end
All the kfb are on the same edge so you increase, turn, increase again making one edge much longer than the other.
I hope this helps
It’s an asymmetrical triangle, increasing every row on one edge with a kfb, and decreasing every other row on the other edge, with a k2tog. The decreases don’t start until after the 4 set-up rows.
Sometimes you have to just start in, follow the directions, and then it becomes clear.
That’s just the 4-row set-up. There are decreases starting with the next section, with every RS row starting with k2tog.
