Hi! Can someone make sure I’m reading this pattern correctly? I’m making Ellen’s basic knit hat, and the directions say: Row 1: K6, K2 tog across row. I think it means to knit 6 normal knits, then knit 2 together for the rest of the row? Thanks for your help!
I would rather imagine there are parentheses missing and it’s really (k6, k2 tog) across, so you have a series of evenly spaced decreases.
What you are saying makes sense, I’m just not sure…here is a link to the pattern: http://www.theshipsproject.com/Ellen’sBasicKnitHat.htm
Here is the entire text for the decreases:
Begin decreases:
Row 1: K6, K2 tog across row.
Next row and all even rows Purl.
Next row K5, K2 tog across.

Yes, Becky’s absolutely right. There should be parentheses around the directions since it’s the k6, k2tog that is repeated around and then later a (k5, k2tog) repeat…
Got it finished! Thanks both of you for your help!!
