Pattern help!

i am working on a cowl - the pattern seems very simple:

round 1 : k2, p2
round 2 : k2, p2
round 3 : yo, ssk, p2
round 4 : k2, p2

however…on the yo, ssk, p2 round, i am very confused as to how this actually works out. after i do the p2, do i move the yarn back behind the knitting as if i’m about to do a knit stitch before doing the next yo? or do i hold the yarn in front of the knitting? i have never done this stitch before…please help!

To do the YO, ssk, P2 you’d leave the yarn forward then bring it over the right needle to the back and ssk just like normal. It just happens to already be in the YO position because of the way the pattern is.
