Pattern help!

im badly in need of some help. im knitting a chain stitch scarf in bernat bamboo. and i dont understand some of the instructions.

"4th to 7th rows: Beg with a knit row, work in stocking st.
Rep 2nd to 7th rows for 5 ins [12.5 cm], then 2nd “and 3rd rows once.”

what does this mean?

all help is much appreciated

Please edit your post to take out the entire pattern, it’s okay to leave in a couple rows that you’re having trouble with.

4th to 7th rows: Beg with a knit row, work in stocking st.
Rep 2nd to 7th rows for 5 ins [12.5 cm], then 2nd and 3rd rows once.

R4 will be knit, R5 purl, R6, knit and R7 purl - that’s the stocking/stockinette st over these rows beginning with a knit row.
Then, knit rows 2 to 7 one more time, and rows 2 and 3 only one more time.

thank you soooo much suzeeq. that makes alot of sense now that i think about it

also it says sl 1 p, then the row below sl 1 does that mean the other slip i do knitwise?

Usually you slip all sts purlwise, unless it’s part of a decrease slip 1 k1, psso for example - then you slip knitwise. And that means how you insert your needle, usually the yarn is held in back.
