Pattern help. Reverse stockinette stitch (purl every round)

Hi there! Wondering if someone could lend me a hand with this part of a hat pattern:

“Work even in reverse stockinette stitch (purl every round) for 6 rounds. Work even in stockinette stitch for 15 rounds.”

I’m on circular needles. Do I just purl for 6 rows and then knit for 15 rows?

Or do I purl for 12 rows?

And what does “work even” mean?

Ugh, I’m confused…

Thank you for the help!

I’m assuming you have a marker indicating the start of each round. Just purl around for 6 rounds just like it says, then knit each round for 15 rounds. Hope this helps

Okay, great, that’s what I’ve been doing. Thank you!!

However, I’m working from a new book I bought. I just looked up the pattern online and found a correction: Cast on 160 stitches, not 106 as book states!!! GRRRRRR…

Would have helped to have known this 30 rounds ago…

But thank you for your help. It will be very useful once I get back to my current place
