Pattern help please!

I decided cables didn’t look too hard ( I was wrong) so I’ve started a cable knit belt.
The first 9 rows are simply combinations of k and p stitches. The 10th row begins the cable and I’ve completed it. Here is my trouble ~ this is the next part of the directions:

Work even for 9 rows. Rep last 10 rows for cable pat 18 times more. Work even for 8 rows. K1 row on WS.

Work even for 9 rows? :?? What does this part mean?
It figures while my husband is at work and my son is napping I pick a project that is a little over my head. :rofling:

Basically you’re just working the pattern as it is until you need to cross the cables again–repeating the first 9 rows, then crossing on the tenth.

Thanks so much Ingrid! I think I have a little bit of quiet knitting time left before munchin wakes and hubby is home. I’m headed back in there to pick it up.
I can’t wait to finish and post pics for everyone!
