Pattern help please

Hello everyone, just found this group! What a great idea! I’ve had to put my knitting down because I just don’t understand what to do next. I’m knitying a baby cardigan and back and fronts are one piece.Ive repeated 2 rows until work measures 15cm. It then says Buttonhole row right side k2 yon k2tog knit to last 4 stitches k2tog k2.
1st row p3 k to end
Decrease row knit to last 4 stitches k2tog k2
These 2 rows form the pattern and position of the raglan shaping. Work 1 row.
Work frequency of decreased rows as given for left front ( this means you are decreasing on the second and 4th rows Work the position of the right front decrease stitch as set above until there are 24 stitches ending with a wrong side row.
So do I just keep decreasing until I have 24 stitches left? Also I have looked further ahead in pattern where I divide for the back it tells me to pattern 90 stitches leaving 32 stitches on a holder, but won’t I have cast all those stitches off? It doesn’t say about picking up stitches. Hope all this makes sence! Sorry for the long post!:exploding_head:

Wecome to KH!
Yes, keep decreasing at the frequency given in the pattern, on the 2nd and 4th rows until 24sts remain.

If you’ve alreach worked the left front and are now working the right front then the remaining sts should be the back perhaps with some sts for the underarms. You might add up the sts for the fronts and back, and see if that makes sense with the sts you have on the needles. Check the finishing for the two fronts too to see if those sts are bound off for the shoulder seam or if there is another step there.
What is the name of your pattern and the designer?

Thank you! I haven’t worked the left front, all I have done is to knit until work measures 15cm. I think that is what I don’t understand, it’s all one piece and am worried to start it incase I do it wrong! I am rubbish at frogging and getting stitches back on the needles. The pattern is purlandjane marino cardigan

Very nice!
First off, a lifeline. It’ll make getting sts back on the needle after ripping out so much easier and less nerve-wracking. Hope you never need it but if you do, it’s there.

The directions sound like you’ve either already separated out the left front and back sts or have used stitch markers to mark off the division between fronts and back. Those back and left front sts are live not bound off and can be left on the working needles and ignored or slipped to a holder. You’ll get to them later.

Now you can follow the directions for the buttonhole row on the right front and follow the rest of the right front directions working the buttonhole on either the 2nd or 4th row depending on your size. When you get to 24sts work another buttonhole and then continue till finally 13sts remain. Place these sts on a holder, break the yarn leaving about 6 inches to weave in later.

Now you can work on the 90 back sts. Leave the remaining 32sts on hold for the left front.

Thank you! It now makes sense! Ha ha penny has finally dropped!
