Pattern help please_shape waist!

hi everyone…
my second sweater…has waist shaping! the direstions are as follows"

Shape Waist, Dec Row (Rs) *k1, skp, work to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1. work 3 rows even:rep from *once, then rep dec row. Cont in patt est, work even until measures 6 1/2 inches, from beg. end ws row.

OK…so, is the plan i decrease a row, then work three rows, then decrease another row…work three rows, then decrease another row, work three rows until i’m down to the number of stitches and then work even until it measures the correct lenght???

thank you so much!

From what you put down for the pattern, I read it as:

Do your decrease row.
Work three rows even in the pattern.
Do another decrease row.
Work three rows even in pattern.
Do another decrease row.

Then work even in pattern until you have 6 1/2 inches.

When you ask about being down to the number of stitches, are you talking about a stitch count listed in parenthesis after each decrease row? If so, then my next question is, does doing the decreases above get you to that number of stitches? If not, then you may need to do more decreases, but from what you put down for the pattern, it doesn’t sound like you’d do any more decreases.
