Pattern help: knitting an elephant

Hi Everyone

I am not an experienced knitter, only been knitting a month or so.

I subcribe to a magazine and in there is a pattern to knit an elephant so I thought I would give it a bash. I got all the wool and everything and then I read the pattern properly.

I am a bit confused by the following

Back Leg
Work as for the front leg for 15 rows
Next row cast on 6 sts and purl to end
Next Row: knit
Next Row: cast on 5 sts

I Know that I need to cast on 14 sts and work in stocking stitch for 15 rows as thats what it said for front leg although it was for 20 rows not 15. Its the row after the 15th that I don’t understand.

Hope someone can help as I am really keen to get started on this project as I am knitting the elephant for a friends birthday

After the 15th row, turn as if to work the next row, but first cast on 6 sts, use the knit or cable CO. Then purl the new sts and the old ones. Turn and knit a row, then turn and cast on 5 more sts. This will add sts, maybe for the body of the elephant.
