Pattern help for new member

Hi! I’m posting this on behalf of a new member - PolkaQueen - who’s still getting oriented to the site. She needs pattern help for a specific part of her pattern, and I wasn’t able to help her out:

“Thank you, Judy for your response. I’m new to this site and don’t know how to get into anything yet. Here is what my pattern says: Knit 25 rows in a garter stitch. Next body of tote - Knit 1 more row, do not turn. Rotate work and knit up 13 sts across end. Then rotate work again and knit up 30 sts across end.”

I’m guessing lots of y’all have already knitted what she’s doing, so if you’d be so kind as to help interpret this for her (and me :??), we’d appreciate it!!

It sounds to me as if they want you to pick up and knit stitches along the already knitted 25 row block?

Yup, sounds like she’s going to pick up stitches down the left side, across the cast-on edge and up the right side to start knitting the body in the round.

By knitting the extra row, that makes it 26 rows total, and yep, she would be picking up a stitch every other row. Then pick up stiches along the CO. Maybe 13 sts on the other side too, then join and knit in the round, is where the pattern seems like its going.

Thanks you guys, I knew you’d come through. :muah::hug:

I emailed PolkaQueen y’alls answers, in case she hadn’t figured out the forum thing yet.
