Pattern description

ok, I’m working on making a Cap from Knit, Lace & Leaves for baby… page 8
I just completed row 18 which says: K6, YO, K1, YO, (K11, YO, K1, YO) 3 times, K6: 57 sts.

ok…

Row 19…(Increase, P13) 4 times, K1:61 stitches.
The problem for me is… Increase, P13… what does increase mean… before P13? Am I making any sense?

Thanking you in advance,:knitting:

It basically means to create more stitches as you go along. If you look at the instructions for Row 18 you’ll see you should have 57 stitches on your needles, but at the end of Row 19 you’ll have 61, so you’re adding 4 more.

If you look at the tabs at the top of the forum, you’ll see Free Videos, resting your mouse on Free Videos will give you a little sub menu, one of which is Increases. In there, there will be video clips of different methods of increase. If the pattern doesn’t specify exactly, the most common is “KFB” which means knit into the stitch as normal (front) but don’t drop it off the needle, and then knit into it again (back) creating another stitch.

Hey Brenda, I thank you for your quick reply… yes, I know about how to increase… but I wasn’t sure…where I should increase… I guess at the end… I’m sure I’ll be writing more… thanks again,
cair

Oh I get you! Yes, increase before the P13 each time. So it would go …Increase, P13, Increase, P13, Increase, P13, Increase P13… then whatever comes next.
