Pattern confusion

Hi,
I’m new to this forum and this is also the first time I have followed a pattern.
I have reached a certain point and can’t see which way I need to go next. Please can somebody help?

The pattern reads as follows
P10 [11:9:9:13:9]. 96 [110:124:138:152:166]

I have 166 stitches on both needles but have no idea how to get the rest of the stitches from the left needle over the right needle.

Any ideas? The pattern is Man’s and Boys cardigans in SIRDAR country style DK 7123

Thank you in advance

What a handsome cardigan!

Are you using straight needles? For that many stitches, it would be better to use circulars. The flexible cable between needles is ideal for holding a lot of stitches, and they come in different lengths. 30" would probably be good for this project. You can still knit back and forth on circulars; you don’t have to knit round and round.

Otherwise, you can try to slip the stitches from one needle to the other, pushing them tightly together, but with that many, they will be inclined to push themselves off the needle and it will be easy to drop stitches. Be sure to have some sturdy stitch-stoppers to put on the needles when you put the project down.

Very good looking.
Definitely circulars as ColoCro has recommended.
You’ve ended with 166sts which is just what the pattern is asking for.
Where is the yarn strand coming from the ball of yarn at this point? At the tip of the right hand needle?
If you’re asking how to change needle sizes, you just work the row with the next needle size, the 4mm or whatever you are using to get gauge.

Hello
Is it all of “next row” you are stuck on?

Hi,
Yeah I came to the purl 10 and then I don’t know what to do? As I’ve got stitches on both needles.
Thanks

Thank you for advice. I think I may have overcome my problem. :grinning:

Hi,
Thank you for replying. I am going to change to circulars. I see what you mean. Thank you this is the first time I’ve knitted a cardigan so fingers crossed :crossed_fingers: I can do it. Thanks again.

When you get to the purl 10 (or 9 if you are following the highlighted size) and the stitch count of 166, you should have finished working all stitches of the row. Is this what you have? Have you finished this row successfully now with all stitches worked?

You CAN do it! We’re all here for you if you get stuck!
