Pattern Clarification

This is a less like a “How to” question and more like a “Say What?”

So I’m working on this pattern and it says:

Change to Round 1: [*k1 yo, rep from * to 1 st before marker, [k1, yo, k1b] in last st] 8 times

Rnd 2: K the knit sts, dropping the yos

rep rnds 1 and 2 until there are 17 sts in each section after rnd 2

So, my question is, what am I doing 8 times? am I supposed to do rnd 1 x 8?

Yes. K1, yo, until 1 st before the marker, k1, yo, k1 below (or in the back of the st) then repeat the whole thing across the round. Then do round 2, then repeat both of them.

If my morning math is right, you should have 24 stitches. In order to get all the way around, you follow the instructions for row 1 8 times, getting you back to the beginning of the round. Then you start row 2, all the way around. Then keep doing round 1 followed by round 2.

I think there could be more than 24 sts, that’s a minimum. The pattern has 8 sections where you increase in each one.

Ok, hope I didn’t confuse anything before coffee. I was just reading the question as asking if you follow rnd 1 for 8 rounds, or do those stitches to the end of the round.

Do those stitches till the end.

well, now I know why i was confused–It only ever said to pm once, so I didn’t have any markers for the increase sections(they were fairly simple increases)

you guys are lifesavers. I don’t know what I would do without you sometimes!

The pm may have been in instructions between *s which were to be repeated.
