Pattern clarification

Hi, I would like some clarification. The pattern I am working on has a k1 p1 on the bottom, and the st st the remaining way up. The pattern instructs to k 2 rows of k and 1 row of k and 1 row of p up to 2 3/4 in. and the st st to 6 1/4. Do I measure from the bottom or at the beginning of the beginning row of st st?

Usually the measurement is from the cast on unless the pattern states otherwise. Can you quote the exact pattern wording?
What is the name of your pattern?
