Pattern alteration help, please

I tried knitting a swatch of this up and thought the triangles were too small. For some reason I can’t wrap my brain around how the pattern “works” to make modifications. Unlike the basketweave where you just do the opposite every row, the triangles confuse me. Can some one tell me how to make the traingles bigger, please?

Cast on multiple of 6 + 5.
Row 1: k5, *p1, k5
Row 2: K1, *p3, k3; rep from *, end p3, k1
Row 3: p2, *k1, p5; rep from *, end k1, p2
Row 4: Rep row 3
Row 5: Rep row 2
Row 6: Rep row 1

BTW, I was using worseted weight yarn for the swatch to see how the triangles looked. I plan on making a project out of much smaller yarn. Do you think the triangles will show up better in smaller yarn as written or should I still try to make them bigger?
