Patt 2tog

Hi
I’m working on a sweater (Darcy) from the Kim Hargreaves Heartfelt book and I’m not sure how to continue. The direction is patt 2tog.
I’ve never encountered this before and the book doesn’t list it in its stitch guide.

The reason it’s written that way is that the dec might be k2tog or p2tog, depending on where you are in the stitch pattern.

Thank you so much–I racked my brain trying to figure that out. I thought that might be it but I was afraid to continue and then discover I had it all wrong.
