Hi all…I need a bit of help with the pattern below. I’m stuck at the slip st patt!
I understand both first and second row, but I’m so confused with the third. I have increased sts in second row but because I have yft and not ybk, then K1…these sts are crossed over, correct? My confusion is then when I’m K1 in row three, which st am I knitting and which am I slipping? Or am I doing this completely wrong?!
TIA
Hi and welcome!
It may be the difference between yfwd which is yarn to the front then over the right needle to the back making a yarn over and yft which is yarn to the front between the needles before the slip stitch. It doesn’t specify yarn to the back between the needles but you would do that after the slip stitch. This won’t increase a stitch.
See if the pattern book has a glossary to explain these abbreviations.
Thanks salmonmac! There isn’t a glossary in the book (annoyingly. I originally thought the ybk would be assumed too but is it normal to not specify something like that in a pattern? This is what the blanket is supposed to look like…
Sometimes you see it, especially for slip stitch patterns. The Note says that the yarn is to be held to the wrong side during the slip st which implies a yarn back but it wouldn’t have taken much effort to state it in the Slip St Patt.
It’s a very good looking pattern stitch and a nice blanket.
Thanks salmonmac. I did a couple of rows with the yarn back and it’s exactly what it should be! Thank you so much for your help
Wonderful! I hope we get to see this lovely blanket when you finish.
