Hi everyone, I am new to the forum and very happy to have found it !!
I need some help with this pattern, on the SLEEVES part. Pattern says: cast on 23 sts, inc 1 each end of needle on 5th and following 6th rows until there 33 sts - I’ve therefore increased 2 sts on rows 5, 6, 11, 17 and 23 - then inc 2 sts every 8th row to 51 sts. This has yielded a piece 2.5 in longer than it was supposed to be. Did I get the increases wrong ?
Any help is appreciated !
Welcome to the forum!
I love Shaker rib but it can be difficult to get stitch and row gauge. Plus it tends to be very stretchy in length and width.
It may be that your row gauge is off which adds to the length. (Technically the increases are on rows 5,11,17,23 and 29 and then every 8th row to row 101 which would only add to the length.)
You can measure your row gauge and do the calculation to see if working the increases every 6th row to row 93 shortens the sleeve enough. If not you might begin with increases every 4th row starting at row 5 (rows 5,9,13,17 and 21) and then every 6th row.
Thank you SO much for replying so quickly, I’ve been struggling with this pattern for days … indeed I’ve noticed that it’s hard to get row gauge, but as a beginner I thought I’d done sth wrong!
I will give it a try with your suggested alternative increases, again thanks so much
