Paton's Classic Merino Color?

I took advantage of Joann’s sale on CM to buy some and it arrived, only the color is not what I thought it would be. I chose dark Olive and boy is it dark! It’s kind of a brownish green and I’m wanting a Moss Green type color. The Bernat Softee Chunky in med Sea Green is more like the color I want (though on my monitor it doesn’t look like it does in the store). Bernat Softee Chunky I’m wondering what Paton’s color comes closest to that. The Sage green looks sorta light, and the Bottle green much too dark, and thought maybe someone might know. My Michaels has a good selection of CM and I have never seen a sea or moss green color … the greens are more olive …

I understand. I mostly wondered if the Sage was as light as it looks on the Joann site, or darker.

Did you compare the colors on the Joann site with the ones from the Paton’s site?

The Bottle Green looks more “pine green” to me and the sage almost looks “minty” more of a cool green than a warm green, if that makes any sense.

The Yarndex color card is from 2004, they have probably discontinued or changed the names of some of those colors.

Thanks, I did compare them and on my monitor the two sites look pretty similar. The yarndex color card makes it look darker than the other sites, though. I got a reply on another board that the Sage is actually a light color. I do like that color, but for the sweater I’m thinking of making, want a medium sort of green and it looks like Paton’s doesn’t have one. So I think I’ll go with the Bernat and send back the CM.

Oh goodness, me, too! I got some old rose color, and it was so much darker. I think they must be having too much fun with the flash or something!
