Outlander fans!

Anyone else planning to watch the show?!

I already watched it – it is available on Starz On Demand so I downloaded it to my DVR earlier this week. I saved it so that I can watch it again and apparently, DH has also started watching it – he thought he was the one that scheduled it, although I didn’t know that he was aware of Outlander. (I have the books so he may have read them, but I didn’t think so.)

It’s a slow start, but it’s a big series and I think they did a good job of including lots of information in a short amount of time. I’m eager for the next part!

I’ve seen the first one twice now (iPad and TV). I liked it a lot and can’t wait for the 2nd one next week. Don’t know if DH will watch, but we’ve discussed Jacobites, the Revolutionary War, and random things that go on in the books so maybe.

so when i see people asking for help with outlander patterns… we’re talking 1740s scotland? did 1740s scotland actually have a fashion/style of note? i saw the book at costco and i’m thinking it’s not my cup of tea. but 2 episodes in with the tv show, with the third tomorrow, for you fans… are you all enjoying it?

I’m loving it!

The patterns themselves are most likely not from the 18th century. :teehee: There have been several knit items on the show that seem to have patterns so that may be what you’re seeing.

As for the books…when I first heard about them I tuned them out. I’m not a fantasy or historical fiction fan and hate any of the bodice ripper romances so his really didn’t seem like my thing. Finally I got a sample on my Kindle though and was hooked. They are well written and researched. Not sure they could be classified into anyone genre.

this was just posted to ravelry… thought of you, jan.

I think I have the yarn for this. Thanks!

I’ll find some baseball bats for needles. :teehee:

Haha! I always say those giant needles is like knitting bats. Haven’t actually tried it though. :teehee:

i bet the yarn would glide right over some addi click louisville sluggers…

WAIT… i found them! http://www.paradisefibers.com/worlds_larges_addi_turbo_circular_needles

GG - paradise fibers is in spokane… roadtrip!

Oh, yeah! Gotta see those.

I thought it was you compared them to bats. I was thinking of you and almost said I heard it from you, I just wasn’t sure. Please accept my belated citing of your insight.

There is one Outlander KAL that I am know about, but it doesn’t sound like that is what you are talking about. I bought a shawl pattern, but they ran out of the special Outlander-inspired yarn colors and I haven’t picked out my substitutes yet.

I expect there are a lot of Outlander-inspired designs popping up, with all the excitement over the mini-series.

I finished my second read of the last book and I have about an hour left of the Lord John book that I am listening to. However, I have not been watching the episodes. They are collecting on my DVR, but I have not watched beyond the first one that I pulled down from On Demand. I want to savor them and haven’t had a chance to sit down for that long.

Hey, Jan! Did you know that Knit Picks has your needles? http://www.knitpicks.com/needles/Jumbo_Interchanceable_Birch_Wood_Circular_Needle_Tips__DJumboIC.html?intmedid=HomeBottomImg--JumboNeedles
