OT--- WOOOHOOO I got it!

Thursday, I got my new 1973 standard VW Beetle! I already ordered my new Wolfburg shifter knob and flower vase, and Dh put new tail light lenses on. He hasta adjust the clutch some, then I hafta learn to drive it! :happydance:

My first car was I think a 1961 Beetle. Paid $100 for it.

I got mine in about 1970 and it was $900. Can you imagine paying that much for a car that is only 4 yrs old?! A lot of cars cost more than our first house now!! :shock:

We also have to remind ourselves that minimum wage was about a $1.90 an hour. :wink:

I was brought home from the hospital in a shiny new 1969 Beetle. :smiley:

(And the first car I ever owned myself was a 1971 Beetle. You can find a pic of it in the dictionary next to “love-hate relationship.” :wink: Growing up in a VW-only household, I thought it was completely normal to have a car in the shop at least once a month.)

A VW beetle? Oooooh.

For some reason this reminded me of plans that existed on the 'net a few years ago, for building a trebuchet capable of hurling a VW beetle. Apparently the test bug was successful - brings a whole new meaning to the phrase “Junkyard Wars”, doesn’t it?

I left my digi camera at the ILs Sunday, so as soon as I get it back I will post a pic…the only pics I have of it now are the new tail light lenses :doh:

Oh and DH fixed the clutch, so now it’s just a matter of finding a place I can practice driving!
