I was wondering how everyone gets the pills off of their wool.
I was considering buying this sweater stone from Herrschner’s (I have a gift certificate to spend), but I have no idea how they work.
So, I was just wondering what everyone uses to de-fuzz, and how does it work?
I have one Manos del Uruguay longies (diaper soaker/pants) for my DS and they are getting quite pilly! I love that yarn but it does pill quite a bit.
I haven’t had to use one yet, but I’ve seen in here were many recommend a sweater shaver. I saw the stones, but don’t know how they work.
On another note… until this forum I’d never heard of diaper soakers. Do you just put them over a cloth diaper? No rubber pants?
I think Hilde says she uses a disposeable razor. Those little battery powerd shavers work ok too.
Because wool is so water repellent, it is no problem to put it over a cloth diaper to prevent leaks. It also works well through repeated changes, is cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Rubber pants, my friend, are definitely a thing of the past. Even if you don’t use wool, most people use PUL (polyurethane laminate) for covers these days, you can find it in cotton knit fabric or, most often, polyester since polyester is far less absorbent. Oh, and another thing, no one uses pins either! :happydance: It’s really easy to cloth diaper now but if you are like me and have to pay to wash your laundry, it isn’t as cost effective as people lead you to believe. $4 a load was killing us! Which is really sad, ds was a much happier kid in cloth.
oh, I guess I should reply to the topic of the thread! :lol: I use my dh’s beard trimmer, it works great and is really fast but you have to be careful about the angle of it so you don’t nick your stitches.
