OT - Need ideas for package to overseas soldier

One of my coworker’s sister just got sent to Djoubuti for a 6 month tour of duty. She had to leave her 2 children ages 15 and 8 home and we all feel like we want to do something special for her. This is her first time that she is posted overseas.

The only thing that she has asked for is Crystal Light, some scarves for her hair and t-shirts.

Since there are a bunch of us at work that want to send her some suprises I thought I would see if anyone has anymore ideas of items that may be needed. I know from previous posts that some of you have family stationed overseas.

Any ideas would be appreciated!

My son is overseas and we send him baby wipes to wipe down with,cause it’s so hot and shower gel.They also like little toys to give to the kids over there.Just goodies that don’t melt :roflhard:Send her a basket full of shower stuff.Nice soft toilet paper,Tampons,pads,mints ,candles,ect.

My neighbor just came home from Egypt…he liked phone cards and Kool Aid.

ETA- Lisa said that Beanie Babies work well too. They gave them out to the kids, and so many people had so many just to get rid of from the past collection fads.

My mom also sent a package to a former student who was serving overseas, and he always sent letters home saying that he was bored. We sent some candy (non-parishable), granola bars, shaving cream, mouthwash, and crossword puzzles. I think we sent him more, but I can’t remember what. Maybe you could send her a mirror, some hairbands, make-up, or Chapstick, simple things that she would appreciate. Hope I helped! :hug:

A lady at the post office told me that her son always requested ketchup. Apparently the ketchup they have overseas is not too good.

When my boyfriend was overseas, I always sent him his favorite candy. I also sent him a couple jars of salsa and some Chapstick from time to time.

Also, it gets cold in the dessert at night, so my bf borrowed one of my light knit blankets, don’t know if she has one of those.

Mild/Gentle shampoo

Shower caps - disposable, if possible, or 2 regular ones.

(The sun can dry out hair fast, so she may not want to wash it every single day)

Small sewing kit plus 1 reel of strong white cotton & ditto black cotton

Small clothes brush
