OT: Help! I'm being invaded!

By lady bugs and they aren’t even real lady bugs! They’re the mutant ones brought over by the goverment in the 70’s. I’ve even read where these mutants are killing the real lady bugs (or lady birds, which ever you prefer). Anyone else being invaded by these little buggers? Any suggestions on how to get rid if them? I vacuum them up and 10 minutes later, more are there!
Oh, I can’t wait for warm weather so they’ll move outside and leave me alone!! There’s nothing like the sound of a lady bug thumping it’s way across the ceiling when you’re trying to concentrate on something. Blasted things don’t even die when it’s bitterly cold out…they just wait until the next sunny day to crawl all over my windows…

I knew what the invaders were before I read your post. I had them in a previous house. Can’t believe I BOUGHT them. They were called “stay at home lady bugs”. I had purchased them to protect my plants. They didn’t bother me that much. They seemed to like our laundry room best.

Had an invasion of wasps in our bedroom in the same house. Now THAT’S an INVASION!

We had some warm days in January and those little suckers were all over my windows and in my house! Where ever the sun was, so were they. You’re right though, it seems like as soon as you vacuum the up, 20 more are there again! and they smell bad if you squish them.
Sorry I don’t have any help for you, but I know how you feel.

Here are directions on how to build a trap.

Ugh, at our last house we had the little buggers invading constantly. About 100 a day in one window alone. And they stink to high heaven!! Blech! So sorry to hear you’ve got that problem, too. :frowning:

We were trying to sell our house when we had them. Just kept the vaccuum cleaner handy.

I have those critters in Minnesota too.Every time it warms up a little bit Lady bugs like crazy If that isn’t bad enough the flys do the same thing. So I have both at the same time !!!I just suck them up with my Dust Buster

Ew, we had the flies thing at our last house, too. In Spring, they flocked to the sides of the house where the sun hit: the back in the morning and early afternoon, then the west side during late afternoon. The buzzing of thousands of them was just sickening! And they’d clump up by the hundreds on the deck rails. Blech!!

I had a ladybug problem in October(!). Zillions of them! They would pair off and mate in the corners, seriously. :roflhard: And the whole outside of the house was covered in them. Then there was a hard freeze and they all dropped dead and stunk up the place. Does this mean they’re coming back??

We have them here… they would attack the side of the house and kitchen during any sunny day (the siding looked orangish brown when they hit)… now they keep appearing in our bathroom :??.. we sweep them up or wash them down the drain  my kids have squished a few trying to pick them up cause they think they are pets and they let off a bad odor… this past fall I got a spray that was ok to use and sprayed the outside of our house… it worked wonderful on them…I can’t think of what the bottle was though if I see the label I’d know …works on other bugs and suppose to be safe enough to spray your pets with (for fleas, ticks, etc) but I never did that… just the side of the house… they would leave purple marks on the house as they crawled their way up only grease lightening would take that off… If I could figure out how they are getting into the bathroom I’d be happy lol

If there’s a fan in the bathroom, they’re probably getting in through the vent.

They can get in through the smallest of places! We never did figure out exactly how they were getting in the windows, but they were. We also kept hoping the cats would eat them–one of our cats loves to eat flies (ew). But the stink of these bugs kept the cats far away.

Yep we have a vent that we sprayed but could be how they are getting in… I wondered if it wasn’t the sky light cause on sunny days they cover our sun light…

When we had Esmerelda she got one and what a noise she made till I could get it off her tongue… then she walked around shaking her head till I got her to drink some water lol… my dog (Shermee) won’t go near them and neither will Cozmo :rofling:

Oh Dustina, that’s terrible…and really funny!! :roflhard: :roflhard: :roflhard:

All the houses we have looked at that have been vacant since fall are lady bug grave yards. We never had to deal with this in Michigan. Not looking forward to it.

They’re back!!! :wall:

I spent 30 minutes vacuuming up lady bugs after our weekend gone only to have more emerge 5 minutes later sigh And so it begins…

They do stink!!! We had these at my old house, too. No solution, though. At my old house, we used to get those icky box elder bugs, too.

Now we get those icky stink bugs! These stink when you squish them.

AAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!! BIG picture of bugs!!!AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
