OT - for us visually challenged Bi-Focal people!

In Kelly’s blog, there was some discussion about progressive BF’s and Jan noted how costly they can be. I got them when I was 42, and did not price shop - my first pair cost 550 bucks - 75 for the frames, 50 for the exam…the lenses were horrendously expensive.

Two years later, I am due for another exam. This time I am price shopping. Sears has a special right now, with progressives for $99, and JC Penney’s has one for $129. Sears runs through Feb 18, Penney’s through Jan 22. I wear my glasses in the evening - generally wear contacts. I think I really got taken to the cleaners that first time around for glasses that I don’t wear every minute of the day.

Oh my, I thought you were talking about progressive boyfriends! :roflhard: Need to read the titles more closely!

(I’ve had way too much sugar today)

I see ‘BF’ and to me it means ‘breastfeeding’!!! :roflhard:

I thought “breastfeeding” too… :roflhard: … you can tell I hang out on parenting forums!

I expected a post about having a boyfriend that everyone else thought was ugly. :roflhard:

Yup, I read it as for visually challenged boyfriend people as well. Kind of a letdown that you werre talking about bifocals

it took me a bit to figure it out too…I had even worse thoughts…

LOL Well I saw it for what it is. My problem is I was trying to get some within a week and it’s not going to happen unless I go to Lenscrafters I guess. Sears takes 1.5 weeks, Costco 2 weeks. I think I’m going to Costco because I found some frames I like there. The deal at Sears was awesome though!

I seem to recall spending over $300 for my 1st pair of bi-focals then only a couple hundred the next time. Since then, I’ve been getting the half-glasses at Dollar Tree. They aren’t fancy, but they’re only $1.00 and they do the job…and I can buy as many extra pairs as I need. Sometimes I splurge and spend $5 - $10 at Dollar General, WalMart, or Target.

P.S. At least at Dollar General, Dollar Tree, WalMart, or Target there’s no waiting unless they don’t have the strength you need.
