OT Discussion...No, seriously

Have you ever noticed how these topics start about one thing and end up on something completely not even in the same universe as what it started out as? (Yeah, you have…admit it.)

Well, I’m starting another running thread on just that…let’s see how many topics we can cover in one thread. I really like this because it really drives my OCD up a wall when I change the subject, or keep a tangent going. This way, my OCD gets a nice kick in the hiney

Okay, so have fun with this. Or bear with me, depending on your perspective.

Let’s say the first topic is…what’s your OCD habit?

(BTW, mine’s continuity, if you couldn’t tell.)

I have to check my stove/fridge/doors like 347560273608767557 times before I leave the house. I don’t want to be the one who left stuff on or unlocked if anything happens to the house.

Yeah, see, I’m the one who doesn’t check them, and then I swear that I didn’t do it. So it drives me nuts til I go home to make sure. (Then I wanna kick myself when I see that it’s done and I came all the way home for nothing.)

Do you have a number habit? My number is 4. Everything is in 4’s. Hey, maybe THAT’S why I love patterns that repeat in 4’s

I  having an epiphany!

OMG! I thought I was the only one who did that.

I’m OCD about having my socks match my pants. I’ve been known to change pants if the socks I want aren’t available.

dumb question… what does OCD mean?

OCD means obsessive compulsive disorder I think…

OCD translates to Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Anything that you just HAVE to do or you feel anxious about it.

(The true disorder is much bigger.)

obsessive compulsion disorder.

Before i go to bed each night i check to make the doors and all windows are double locked.

I know my DH often times will check before i do but i still have to check things for myself.

I organize my dishdrain EXACTLY the same way every time I do dishes.

I cut my food into the same sized pieces before I eat it. I actually get a train of thought running through my head about how to EQUALLY divide a particular piece of food. French Toast works VERY well for this.

I tend to eat my food in “layers” whenever possible. I eat the chocolate off the outside of a Snickers bar first. I eat the frosting off the cake separately.

I wont even START talking about how i do laundry.

I tend to only obsess about things that dont affect anyone else. I like to control the little things in life so I can handle the BIG ones with ease!

looks at KK is your last name Monk by any chance?

how much is TMI? (“too much information”)

errr, I have to go to the bathroom immediately before I go to sleep, which means if I don’t fall asleep after a trip to the bathroom, I’m waking up my DH to go again, and if then I don’t fall asleep - you get the idea!

same here - but eerr I have to have my underwear match my outfit as well. Sigh.

My underwear is on it’s own!! :roflhard:

My needles are kept in a case I made organized by size…
All Knitting items have their space…
The placemats on my dinning table have to be placed equally apart from the center, each other and edge of table… dh loves to move one and then see me set the whole table again…
My children’s playroom is organized in bins… so when they are done playing each toy goes in its correct bin…
All movies are put up ABC order…
Your shoes come off at my door and are place neatly on a shoe rack…
The clothes in my closet go from dark to light
My shoes are arranged by color too…
My dressers are color arranged…
So are my kids… edited their clothes
If I don’t finish something it drives me crazy…
I will then drive you crazy…
I have to check all doors and stove as well before I leave the house and before I go to sleep…
The cushion on our futon has to be a certain way…
Our pillows on our bed do too…
The dishes and all groceries are put away properly…
uuuumm… think I’ll stop now sure dh keep ya going he likes to do something and then try to break me of my OCD!!!

Roo’s baby afghan he made me leave the mistakes cause I caught them so far up he said its your first just leave them so I had to go rearrange my towels and wash rags (by color and everything is folded a certain way)… I then made flowers and butterflies to cover the mistakes although I still know what they hide grrrr

My children don’t do this neither does my dh although I have noticed my little boy is picking up on the toy thing…

:roflhard: :roflhard: :roflhard: :roflhard: :roflhard:

:roflhard: ooppssss I meant their clothes :roflhard: :roflhard:

I honestly can NOT think of any ocd like habits…

dustinac–there’s medication for what ails you!

Ingrid i was wondering , dont they make a medicine for that?

The only thing I can think of is my cats have to be in bed when lights out or I cant sleep without them,

When I go to the grocery store, I have to go up and down the aisles in a very particular manner - every aisle, in the same direction everytime. If I go down an aisle in the opposite direction it UNERVES me. Drives my husband absolutely crazy. We can’t go to the store together. But - if I am allowed to shop this way, I don’t need a list, I can remember everything. It’s when I’m forced to go a different way that I forget half of the things on my list (even when it’s right in front of me)…

I’m also VERY obsessive about not dusting… :roflhard:
