OT: Crochet pattern help. I know its not knitting, but

I need help with this pattern from Red Heart Diamond Trillis crochet pattern. :?? I’m a beginner crocheter, but have crocheted in the past. I do knit and crochet. Anyway. Here is the pattern:

Row 4: Ch 5, sc in ch-5lp, 3dc in next sc, sc in next lp*, ch 5, sc in next lp; rep from * to last sc, end at **; ch 2, dc in last sc; turn.

Can anyone explain this? It would be a big help!! I’m mostly confused on the part inside the * 3 dc…**

I would need to see the previous row pattern.
But…

It appears you are doing a repeat of:
ch 5
sc in ch5 sp
3dc in next sc
sc in next lp

(sometimes it helps to write out a cheat-sheet of repeats like this for yourself)

the ch2, dc in last sc at the end. is a “loop” for the next row.

Hope that helps.

Kath

Hi Kath.
thx for your help! I am eternally grateful! I think I understand some…Here is the beginning of the pattern:

Ch 218. Row 1 (RS): Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across; turn-217 (that’s easy)

Row 2: Ch 5, skip first 2 sc, sc in next sc, *ch 5, skip 3 sc, sc in next sc; rep from * to last 2 sc; ch 2, dc in last sc; turn.

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in dc, ch 5, sc in ch-5 lp; rep from across, working last sc in 3rd ch of ch-5; turn.

Yep you should be good to go if you repeat what I said  Good luck!

Kath

Thanks alot! I get it now!
