OT - coupla questions for bloggers

I’ve only been doing my blog for a few weeks and there are a couple of things I’m still trying to figure out; both of them have to do with buttons.

1 - I want to include more buttons in my sidebar. But I’m confused about saving to my own server. I have some buttons saved to my desktop. Do I need to then upload them to a photo host, like flickr? Or can I somehow upload them directly to blogger? If I can upload them directly to blogger, can someone tell me how? If not, then do I just link to a flickr page? I’m very confused about this and don’t want to steal anyone’s bandwidth.

2 - How can I make my own button, with a graphic in it? I looked at a couple of free buttonmaker sites, but they all seemed to be about colors and fonts. I want a small simple graphic on my button but am at a loss as to how to create it.

Could anyone help me figure this stuff out?

Thanks!

I think - and it has been a long time since I used blogger - that you have to upload the image to photobucket or flickr and then put that url in the image tag in order to get the picture to show up. If it’s a small image, I’ll host it for you on my website if you don’t want to have a flickr page.

I host all of my graphics on photobucket – Blogger does have a photo upload feature but it’s extremely unreliable, IMHO. When I was using it, people were always telling me that they couldn’t see my pictures.

As far as the button goes…if you’d like me to do one for you just PM me…I just did one for Heather and it turned out really cute! (if I do say so myself)

Hey, thanks, Dannah - that’s very kind of you. I did register for a flickr account over the weekend, so I think I can do it that way. Will tinker around and see what happens.

Oh, and one other question for you blog folks. Any recommendations on a great digital camera? I have a Canon PowerShot that’s a few years old and am in the market for an upgrade before my trip to Italy next fall. Some of you have amazing shots on your blog, and I’d love some raves and reviews of cameras. I’ve been drooling over the Canon RebelXS (I have a non-digital Rebel XS) but it’s a wee bit pricey.

Aw, Julie, that’s so sweet! Thanks! I’ll definitely pm you (am out of time now - just a few minutes left to knit, er, I mean clean house, before the boys get up from their nap). Great job on Heather’s!! Very cute!

I really love my canon powershot s50…not sure which one you have, but could be a short learning curve to stick with canon. Mine takes great pictures.

I looooove my PowerShot…it’s probably older than yours :roflhard: but it takes fantastic pictures and has never let me down! (6 years and counting…)

Those newer PowerShots are so tiny…they take li’l movies too

mine is sort of “medium” sized…not like the really tiny ones…it’s about 4x2 or so. It would be fun to have one of the new really small ones though. I wonder how the pics are on those?

I luve my Olympus D-370… not sure what the specs are, but its just like using a normal camera

And I say it’s cute too!!!

JULIE ROCKS!!! :)!!!
Thanks again!!!

It makes me smile every time I look at it!!!
