OT - Bananas

I don’t know if ALL of these are true or affective, but thought I’d share. Bananas can’t hurt you unless your allergic so give some of these things a try and let us know if they work.


Bananas, containing three natural sugars - sucrose, fructose and glucose
combined with fiber, a banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial
boost of energy. Research has proven that just two bananas provide
enough Energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout. No wonder the banana is
the number one fruit with the world’s leading athletes. But energy isn’t the only
way a Banana can help us keep fit. It can also help overcome or prevent a
substantial number of illnesses and conditions, making it a must to add to our daily

  Depression: According to a recent survey undertaken by MIND

amongst people suffering from depression, many felt much better after eating a banana
This is because bananas contain tryptophan, a type of protein that the
body converts into serotonin, known to make you relax, improve your mood and
generally make you feel happier.

  PMS: Forget the pills - eat a banana. The vitamin B6 it contains

regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood.

Anemia: High in iron bananas can stimulate the production of hemoglobin
in the blood and so helps in cases of anemia.

Blood Pressure: This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in
potassium yet, low in salt, making it the perfect to beat blood pressure. So much
so, the US Food and Drug Administration has just allowed the banana
industry to make official claims for the fruit’s ability to reduce the risk of
blood pressure and stroke

break, and lunch in a bid to boost their brainpower. Research has shown
that the potassium packed fruit can assist learning by making pupils
more alert.

surgical tape!

Therefore, a banana really is a natural remedy for many ills. When you
compare it to an apple, it has four times the protein, twice the
carbohydrate, and three times the phosphorus, five times the vitamin A

potassium and is one of the best value foods around. So maybe its time to change that well-known phrase

My cousin just sent me this. When my kids were small, and now with my grandkids, I always push a banana in the morning to start the day off right.

My kids love them but they give my son blisters in his mouth just like his dad… so I have to becareful and not give him to many and have to keep them hid… I need to start eating them after reading this lol no more Midol maybe?? :lol:

I eat one every once in a while 'cause I know they’re good for me but I DO NOT LIKE bananas at all. (probably the mushy texture, because banana flavoring is just fine)

I just put bananas on my grocery list :cheering:

I don’t like mushy ones…eat them when they are firmer (a little green) and I’m sure you’ll like them better.

my grandpa use to eat banana bread bananas on his oatmeal all the time and would not even consider that they were no longer ment to be eaten like that when the skins got that black! granted he was blind so didn’t know visually how ripe they were but there is no way those things didn’t feel like mush in his hands!

that being said…i don’t like green ones either!..lol. I have about two bunches sitting in a brown paper bag now waiting for my new mixer to get here so i can go banana bread crazy! :rofling:

I don’t like green ones either, Brendajos. I mean eat them before they get spots on them when they are still firm. At that point they sometimes still have a little bit of green on them.

I like having a banana for breakfast. But my son likes them too so now we have to fight. He’s only 2 so I give in. I figure he needs it more than me. And yeah a little green is best. :thumbsup:

I like bananas when they are just ripe and still firm, but since that window last like 15 minutes I don’t buy a lot of them. (And I definitely don’t need banana bread calories.)

I recently read that knitting is one of the 13 activities (don’t know the other twelve) that prevent the occurrence of dementia by 38%.

So eat a banana while you’re knitting to stay healthy and sane! :lol:

lol they are such a finicky fruit for me…tinge of green is too much green and a few spots tend to be too many spots…and what is UP with the stores…they are either selling neon green bananas or spotty bananas…no in between. but i keep buying them cuz i love me some bananas!
