Hi everyone!
I am just wondering if anyone here is from the Hanford, California area. DH is thinking about applying for a job out there. I was hoping to get some info about the area from a real person instead of just googling it! Thanks!
Hi everyone!

I’m not from there nor do I live there, but I have family in Visalia (about 20 minutes east of Hanford) and Clovis (Fresno suburb, about 45 min-1 hour northeast of Hanford). I drive to Clovis a couple of times a year, and visited my cousin’s townhome in Visalia last October for the first time.
it’s hot and dry in the summer, and you can wear shorts and t-shirts well into October.
there are a couple of cool yarn stores in Fresno: Ancient Pathways and Janna’s. I didn’t get to go in the store in Visalia (Knitters’ Haven) because it was closed on the day I was in town.
sorry I’m not much help.
It’s such a small town you may have to resort to google. LOL Try google local. Put in Hanford, CA and you can see the town and then zoom in and out and pan around to see nearby towns. You can also put in something you are interested in finding like “yarn stores hanford, ca” and you’ll see where they are in relation to Hanford. Searching the web brought up a local paper, too.
I’ve come out of lurkage to reply here I kinda feel I need to since it’s such a small place…how many people actually know about the area!!
I was born on NAS Lemoore, and grew up back and forth between there and Hanford. It’s still pretty much a military-ish area, but has grown a ton since I moved away. What I remember most there is the FOG. It’s in a valley, so the fog gets really REALLY bad in the cooler months - to where driving is nearly impossible. Otherwise the weather is nice, although it could be dry at times, but I remember my dad almost never wore long pants unless he was going to work.
Last I visited, they finally made a mall (it’s small imo…but this is coming from someone used to San Diego, and having 5+ malls to choose from). Oh, and a few casinos have sprung up, complete with tasty buffets As far as LYSs…I wasn’t into knitting at the time, but I’m sure there are some out there!!
I’m not sure if you have any kiddos, but the schools there are good…when I moved to Wisconsin I was about 2 grades ahead of what was being taught. One of the elementary schools (I forget the name…it’s been so long) has a gorgeous little “fort” behind it, filled with animals in a natural-type environment where the kids are educated about local nature, and CA history.
What kind of job is your DH looking for? I have some family that still lives over there, I could ask them for further info if you’re interested.
