Has anyone sent them a mail-order/check before? I’m in Michigan and I send them my order last Monday, and I’m hoping it will be here early this week. I hear they have fast shipping, but I dont know if they have to verify the order first or what ever else they need to do. I’m just excited to get my first not-in-person yarn order!
I’m guessing 7 days for shipping seems reasonable…
Ordered from KnitPicks throught the mail
When I order from knitpicks, I do it online and pay with a credit card. The yarn is usually shipped the next business day and arrives in about 5 business days. I live in CO and it gets shipped from OH for me. I’ve heard it ships from WA if you live on the west coast and then it’s faster.
Let us know how long it takes! I don’t have a credit card and I’d like to order more from knitpicks without the hassle of having someone else charge it for me.
sogrammatical, I’ll post again when I get it.
I don’t have a credit card because I’m a student, so I can’t order on-line either.
I have ordered from Knitpicks online 3 times. They ship the next day but I think it is slow. My shipments have come from Ohio and I live in Kansas. To go this distance has taken 2 weeks for all 3 shipments. All of my orders have been over $40 so they have been free shipping. I think that accounts for alot of the slowness. I wonder if you have to pay for shipping if they send them a faster route?
I paid for shipping because my order was only $20 or so. I hope it won’t take two weeks!
Just so you guys know, there’s pre-paid mastercards out there for those with poor/no credit, or people just nervous about using their real credit cards online.
You pay a service charge of about five bucks a month, but it’s worth it for the piece of mind. I have one and it’s specifically my knitpicks fun money.
I go to my local Rite -Aid, walgreens, etc, charge it up with whatever I"m allowing myself to spend and then have at it.
Happy shopping!
i always pay the little bit extra over the free shipping to get the orders faster. whenever i haven’t the order has taken forever to get to me. this last time it was $8. I figure i would have spent that if i hadn’t made a $40 order anyway so no biggie.
one thing you may want to consider when mailing payments is the use of money orders too, if you are in a hurry. Most companies hold orders for 10 days after receipt of a personal check to make sure the check clears the bank.
One other thing you can do if you don’t have a credit card is open a Paypal account. Paypal will give you a free Mastercard that works just like a credit card anywhere, but is linked only to the funds in your Paypal account. Plus it gives you added protection if the item never arrives or is damaged, etc.
I hope your Knitpicks arrives quickly!
I’ve ordered from them online and after a few days I sent them an email asking if my order had shipped and they emailed me right back that it had. They are very good!
I mail in a order on the 1st from Texas.Got the order on the 13th.
Hope this helps…
or, if you have a checking acct. you can use the debit card from it…but beware, debit purchases are not protected the same way that credit purchases are. WAAAYYY backwards, I know, but someday the banking industry will catch on.
ORRRR… you could get a secured credit card.
Whatever did we do before the internet? Oh yeah, we had to be patient, what a concept! LOL
One week has gone by…Still waiting.
jsauer- heh, patience isn’t one of my strengths. (If you couldn’t already tell)
It depends on the bank whether you have the same protection as a credit card with your debit card. I do with my bank. If my card is stolen or lost I have an 800 number to call just like with my credit card and all transactions will be covered. I had this happen 2 years ago. I was separated from dh, had a very fixed income. The cashier at a mall store “forgot” to give me my credit card back and I wasn’t paying attention. Wasn’t until the next day when I went to use it that I realized it was missing. Immediately called my bank. She had racked up over $900 worth of purchases which included 4 over draft fees. The bank forgave them all and helped me get a new card and clear things up with the places she had used my card! It was a major mess because I had several automatic debits linked to that card and had to get all those changed as well. (Oh and I got the fun of testifying at her trial - weee)
A lot of banks are changing their policies towards debit cards because they are so common now and they are seeing some of the same issues with debit cards as they have with credit cards.
Thanks for this thread - I ordered for the first time from KP on 3 March (online) and haven’t gotten the wool yet, but I’m glad to see it’s not just me and I should be patient!
Normally I just get my KP in a matter of days but I live in OH and pay online… if you mail in a check you prolly gotta count the days for them to recieve the check, for the check to clear, then they will prolly process the order for shipment… so I’d think could be wrong that you’d be adding another week on :??
I hope you get the order soon
Hi!
I’m just about to put in an order at KP and there’s a box to put in a coupon code (from a magazine ad). Have any of you seen an ad for KP that has a code? Would you be willing to share? TIA
I just got it in the mail today. It’s so pretty. Can’t wait to order more. But next time I need to do the math better. I still need to send them another $2.22. I think it was the tax that I messed up on. Anyway, there are pictures on my blog. http://fletchknits.blogspot.com
