Hey guys! So I am adding a front band to a sweater and am told to pick up stitches. The pattern says to pick up 3 out of every 4 from my piece. Is there a correct order to doing this? Pick up 3, skip one and so on? Why would they have me do this? I’ve attached the screen shot of the pattern below. This segment is the last part of the page.

That is exactly the right way to do this. If you were to pick up one stitch for every row, your band would pucker. The ratio of rows to stitches in a knitted square is not 4 to 4, it is closer to 4 to 3.
