i have a length of knitting and i want to fold it almost in half and tie up the sides…how do i go about tieing up the sides?

its supposed to be a cell-phonecover. its like a pocket with a little flap on the top.

I would knit them together. Pick up stitches all up the side on dpns. Put the front stitches on one needle and the back on another. Fold up the bottom so that the needles are parallel with the right side together. Then do a three-needle bind-off where there are two layers, and bind of as regular where there is one layer. How’s that sound? There will be a ridge on the inside, but the outside will look great.
