Once again circular needles

I am so frustrated I keep trying to use circular needles
I try to knit and I can’t get the stitches to come on to the needles.
I don’t want to be stuck with one dementional projects. I have to many scarves. I just finished one, and now I am seaching for a pattern.

What exactly happens? :??

well I was using some needles where the middle part would pop off

I tries it again on different needles and I can’t get the stitches to move around as I knit and the stitches don’t want to come up on the needle from the middle part of the needls

I’m wondering if you have a circular needle that is too long for the number of stitches you are using??

That sounds like its the problem. If you can’t fit your stitches easily from point to point, it’s too long.

I didn’t even know they had differnt lengths. Thats how new I am at knitting. Does that mean I would have to decide what to make first and then buy the needles? I have looked around in the local shops here in my area, and found very little knitting notions and just a lot of yarn. I so ready to work with circulars but I think I am going to look for a project on straight needles. I need to go down to the local knit store and get help. They have a stitch N bitch night. The owner lets people come in for help or just to knit during buisness hours. I am just ready to stat a new project, I love to have a project laying around I can go back to when I need to relax. Knitting is so great I would have have never thought I would be at school thinking about knitting sll day. There are a lot of other students asking me to teach them to knit. They think I am an expert from the scarves they have seen… well thanks for listening.

You can still use these circulars on a project that’s knit flat. You can also look on the http://www.knittinghelp.com/knitting/advanced_techniques/ page for a video that shows how to use a long needle for a smaller diameter piece.

thanks for the reply. This website it so helpfull
acctully it’s the members. Where in the world are
you? is this website world wide?

… Just a question…

I’m glad you figured it out! It just takes practice and that is why a lot of us have a set or sets of interchangeable needles so we usually have the correct size. Still have to buy some occasionally, but less often.

The forum owner lives in the northeastern US, but there are people from all over the world here on KH. :cheering:

is there a good website I can find those needles?

These are my favorite interchangeable set:

Welcome! Yes, the folks here are great–no matter how dumb my questions are, they reply patiently and are very informative. As for websites, joann.com is good. I’ve ordered so much from them that I’m in the free shipping club! I first ordered circular needles to make caps, and 16" is a great size. Naturally I had to get them in multiple sizes (6, 7, 8. 9). I’m looking ahead to making sweaters and have some 29" ones now as well. I love my bamboo circulars (Takumi brand). I rarely use straight needles anymore as I’m less likely to drop stitches with the circs.

thats cool,
The new pattern I fouind in the stitch N bitch book calls for the double pointed needls. So I went and purchased some, brought them home, and tried them out. I haven’t had any luck with them. I just have to keep trying.

DPNs can be a bugger to get used too, so just keep working with them.
