I am a beginner an knitting a toque in the round (with cicular needles). I am working a tubular cast on and on round 5 (WS), where the instructions are as follows: “resume with working yarn, with RS facing, bring yarn to front, slip one purl wise, *bring yarn to back, knit 2…”. I do not understand how to knit on the WS with the RS facing. If I flip the work over, the working yarn will be on my L needle. Is it ok to just start the first slip pile use with my yarn on the L needle and continue on with the pattern? Is that what the instructions are telling me to do?
Can you post a link to the pattern?
I don’t have the link unfortunately. It’s hardcopy.
Welcome to KnittingHelp!
It might help to give us a few of the earlier rows of the pattern (not the whole pattern since that gets into copyright problems). It seems to me that if you are knitting in the round, you’re always on the RS of the hat. Ii’s possible that the “round 5 I”[/I] instruction is incorrect.
Have the previous rounds had you knitting back and forth so that you were in fact knitting on the wrong side?
What is the name of this pattern? Perhaps there’s a picture online that would help us.
Are you knitting the hat inside out? If you’re doing something with short rows you’d need to turn the work and that would put you on the WS. Maybe if you can tell us the name of the book your pattern is in and which pattern it is, it will help.
I’m thinking you might have short row shaping that you’re working on now. :??
