Older Patterns?

I was wondering, does anyone know any good sources for finding older patterns? I’ve been looking for an afghan pattern that my grandma made years ago, and can’t find it anywhere. :frowning: I would love to be able to find it and knit it. I’ve always loved the pattern.

It kind of depends on how old the pattern is and where your grandma originally got it from.

There are a few good sites out there that offer vintage patterns, a few that you could check out are:

http://www.freevintageknitting.com/

http://www.vintage-knitting-patterns.com/

http://www.vintagepurls.co.nz/patterns.html

If you have a picture of one that your grandma made, or if you can describe it somewhat, someone might be able to give you some more information on where the pattern is from. If you’re really lucky, maybe someone else here has the pattern and would be willing to share.

Okie doke. I don’t know where she got the pattern from. I have the yarn that she originally used for one of the blankets. My best guess would be that she knit it in the 1960’s or 1970’s. I’m having my Mom take a pic of the blanket whenever she gets a chance, and then I’ll post it on here. But from what I can remember of it, It’s pieces sewn together. It has a leaf thing that kinda pops out. Then there’s little eyelets in there. And there’s a stockinette background with I want to say a garter border on the squares. I probably just did a lousy job describing it lol. I will post a pic as soon as I have one!

If you don’t belong to ravelry, join and there’s a group called Pattern Detectives, I think, who can usually figure out where a pattern is, then there’s other groups for people who will sell or trade patterns.

Ok thanks so much. I’m 99.9% sure that I just found the pattern!!! And it’s funny, because I’ve been looking for it for years now, and to have found it so easily is just crazy. Thanks so much guys!!

I doubt any of the patterns below are the one that you are looking for, but they all have leaf patterns and garter stitch.

Your best bet is probably still to see if someone recognizes the picture though (or if it’s simple enough someone might be able to help you re-create it).

ETA: Oops! I guess you just found it as I was writing this, lol. Glad you found it … good luck!

lol yeah I just found it. I sent my mom the picture and she was like, I’m pretty sure that’s it(she’s out right now). So I’m gonna probably get some yarn for it today and start knitting. Thanks so much!! :muah: :grphug: :yay: I’ve been searching for this pattern for years now!!!
